The Unspoken Addiction

I think it is very odd that we are warned by the Food and Drug Administration about the health hazards of cigarettes. If you are a smoker, you are pretty much ostracized by society and it’s getting worse everyday.

And it is also odd that we hear so much about drug addiction and abuse. Why do I say these things are odd? Because you just don’t hear that much negative talk about alcohol abuse or addiction, alcoholism as it’s called. There are plenty of commercials on TV, ads in magazines, on billboards, that make drinking look like the classy and cool thing to do.

Don’t you think that’s odd? Alcohol causes just as much or more damage to the body as cigarettes and drugs. Alcohol destroys families, kills people on freeways, but still, our country insist on continuing to make drinking an attractive past time.

Hypocritical is what it is. The big boys in Washington can’t do without their cocktails is what it pretty much amounts to.

That was my rant, but I have a reason for it. If you suspect that you have a drinking problem, check out the alcohol treatment program offered at The Watershed.

The lies about alcohol can’t follow you there.
