How to find a blogging expert?

Recently one of the bloggers I like has been promoting herself as a blogging expert and dispenses advise to other blogger on how to make a blog successful. I know she has an inspiring personal story (and that is why I visit her blog because I feel a personal connection with her), but her blog while does not make much money (probably close to zero) it is not that popular either.
So I am puzzles what makes her a blogging expert? Secondary research? Knowing other successful bloggers, that she may have interviewed? I am all for research, especially primary research, and I think a lot can be learn from research and other people experience. I congratulate my blogger friend for her initiative, she is marketing herself as an expert and plans to create a whole business around this.
This friend is not alone; a lot of people are becoming blogging experts. These people are not successful bloggers themselves they are only doing research about successful bloggers. Their advise should be seen as such.
Most successful bloggers got there on their own, without the help of any experts, but now with the experts we can learn their lessons. On the other hand if they know so much and they know how to help you to become a successful blogger why have not them do it to have more credibility. Do
their tactics do not work for themselves only for others? It does not make sense; right?
While I think it is valid business model and should learn about it I am not sure they can offer a lot or anything different to what is available for free on the Net. The business model is proven “become an expert” sell your “expertise”, build credibility and gain respect even when probably the expert only makes money giving advice that did not work for themselves. It is like the financial adviser who does not have any money. I know doctors do not have to become sick to understand the illnesses, but they dispense drugs not advice only, and pass very difficult exams before being allowed to practice medicine and surgery. Take the blogger experts advice with a pinch of salt. I remember the guy who approached me asking for advice on his blog on making money from Google Adsense and all he made was $30 a year.
What about us in Internet Marketing? We make our living out of our blogs, we have almost 2 million readers and have build large communities of thousands of people. We started our business in 1998. We walk the walk not only talk about it.
